Marion County Busted Mugshots is a private reference site, not a government office or part of the Marion County Sheriff's Office, Marion County Jail, Georgia Department of Corrections, or any other corrections agency. We cannot confirm live custody, announce a release, post bond, or pull an official booking record. For a definitive answer, contact the agency that holds the person or record.
Where to start with a Marion County record
The Marion County Sheriff's Office, led by Sheriff Derrell Neal, operates the county Detention Center and is the verified local starting point for custody questions and jail-register or booking-photo requests. The county-maintained Sheriff's Office page is the safest online local reference.
Published routing details are the office and non-emergency line at (229) 649-3841, the sheriff cell shown by the county at (229) 314-1109, and the mailing address PO Box 109, Buena Vista, GA 31803. Street listings conflict: the Georgia Department of Corrections and county Probate materials use 338 Geneva Road, while the 2026 Georgia Sheriffs' Association directory lists 388 Geneva Road, Buena Vista, GA 31803. Call before visiting or mailing anything. Emergency matters belong with 911.
No named sheriff records officer, records email, local business hours, booking-photo fee, photo-release policy, or local request form was verified. Ask the office to confirm the records custodian and delivery details before sending a request. The GDC Marion County Jail location entry is useful for comparison, but it is not a live inmate roster.
Use the following order when deciding where to look:
- Current custody or a recent booking: call the Sheriff's Office at (229) 649-3841 and ask for the status as of a specific time. No verified official public roster or recent-bookings page was located, so a commercial directory should not be treated as the county's system. The home record guide explains the limits and alternatives.
- A past booking entry or booking photograph: address a narrow Georgia Open Records Act request to the Sheriff's confirmed records custodian. Cite O.C.G.A. §§ 50-18-70 through 50-18-77, identify the full name and approximate booking date, and request the jail-register entry and booking photograph separately. Ask for existing electronic records, reasonably segregable nonexempt portions, and a cost estimate before chargeable work. The Act generally calls for a production or written response within three business days, but that is not a promise of final delivery. Marion County has not published a booking-photo fee or guaranteed completion time.
- County government routing: Marion County general government lists 100 E. Burkhalter Avenue, PO Box 481, Buena Vista, GA 31803, (229) 649-2603, and marionga@windstream.net. Its official contact page can help identify the right county office when a record was not created by the jail.
- A court case or final disposition: contact Clerk of Superior and Juvenile Court Joy Smith or deputy Calandra Terry at (229) 649-7321, fax (229) 649-7931, or joy.smith@gsccca.org. The clerk maintains criminal filings but cannot provide legal advice. For first appearances, preliminary matters, most initial bonds, or warrant questions, Probate and Chief Magistrate Judge Heather Stewart's office lists Chief Clerk Julie Taylor at (229) 649-5542, PO Box 196, Buena Vista, GA 31803. Published fine-inquiry hours are 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday except holidays. Confirm that schedule before doing records work. The Most Wanted Fugitives guide explains why a warrant check is different from a wanted list; no verified county name-search portal was found.
- A person sentenced to Georgia state custody: use GDC Find an Offender. This covers the state corrections system, not everyone recently arrested or held in Marion County Jail. A GDC identification image is not automatically the original county booking photograph.
- Federal or immigration custody: use the Federal Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator or the ICE Online Detainee Locator, depending on the holding authority. Neither is a county booking-photo source.
- News coverage: the Crime News page can identify secondary reporting, but news coverage is selective and does not replace the sheriff's register or the court's disposition.
